INSPIRATIONAL MAGAZINES
Below I have shown three magazines that have given me an encouragement to designing my music magazine.

THIS MAGAZINE COVER WAS A INSPIRATION TOWARDS MY MUSIC MAGAZINE BECAUSE OF THE USE OF CONTRASTING COLORS WHICH HELPS THE WHOLE MAGAZINE ITSELF STAND OUT.

MASTHEAD RESEARCH
As my music magazine is based around the hip hop genre, I decided to choose a graffiti styled font for my masthead. Below are three different designs that I had looked at for my masthead.
From the three fonts above, I have decided to use the third graffiti font. This is because this font is more bold and stands out compared to the other two.
The first font is more goth/punk like and the second font isn't bold enough to stand out on the magazine front cover.

I began the publication by adding in the text first which I had already drawn on my first plan. I started with the masthead which was 'A.Burghley'. This is short for the school's name Acland Burghley. I then changed the font and colour to make it look more vibrant and attractive to the audience and also eye catching so I contrasted the colour with the main mid-shot picture of the magazine. After placing the master head at the top, I then decided to add in the strap lines and lures. These are used to attract the reader and make the school magazine more appealing. I made sure that some of the font was similar to the master head and some were different, so my front page consisted of two different fonts. After I placed the straplines along the bottom, and lures along the side, I added in the main picture of the front cover. I made this to fit the whole page an then changed my text and colour around so that it looks more like a magazine. I used the same theme of colour throughout which makes the magazine look more professional. At the end, I added in extras such as the issue, date, and websites so it looks much more like a magazine.
For my schools contents page, I kept it quite simple but used relevant features to make it look like a professional magazine. The same colours have been used throughout the magazine, as shown on both contents page and front cover. I also took pictures with a digital camera of the school and added this into the magazine to show what can be found inside the magazine. This is genuine, as all pictures were taken by me. I made sure that there was a contents page number, an the page consisted of what is going to be further on in the magazine. I did 'features' of the magazine, instead of a whole written contents page, so it only gives you a little insight of what can be found in the magazine. Some of the pictures were cropped and made smaller so it fits in well in to the contents page.

My music magazine represents young music artists between the ages of 16-24 of different ethnicity's. This is because in the music industry, the hip hop genre is associated with so many different races from Black, White, Asian and Hispanic etc. I have shown this by using these different ethnicity's of both sexes for my front cover and contents page. This means that my magazine appeals to all nations and therefore will form an interest in my magazine. By reaching out to the different ethnicity, this would mean that my magazine has a much wider audience. Also I have challenged the stereotypes of hip hop music through using an Asian person for the main focus of my magazine as there are hardly any Asian music artists in the music industry.
It would be appropriate to sell my music magazine in newsagents across the UK. Not many places outside London sell hip hop magazines so I think this would be an advantage to the people that are interested in this genre. Also by selling it in the newsagents or supermarkets, the magazine would easily be available to the public. As I have put a price of £2.00, this should be easy and affordable for my target audience to purchase. I think that many independent shops would benefit from distributing Freshh music magazine because there is a wide range of audience who are interested in hip hop. I have also included a web-site as Freshh Magazine's target audience are frequent computer users, so this means that sneak peeks of the magazine can also be seen online and you can also purchase the magazine on the online website.
The audience of my music magazine would be aimed at young adults between the ages of 16-24 of both sexes. Freshh music magazine appeals to the hip hop genre and therefore would appeal to the hip hop and rap music lovers and also RnB as this genre is also quite similar to hip hop. The magazine has covered three genres so this should make a large audience. I have also looked at a audience who are frequent users of technology and computer and spend a lot of their relaxing time to listen to music. As I have targeted the 16-24 year olds, this would mean that they would spend a lot of their time studying so therefore may look at a magazine of diversion. In other cases, Freshh Magazine is also seen as a important source of socialisation as it features new music updates, upcoming music stars, fashion etc. The language that I have used for the magazine is colloquial so this would also appeal to the hip hop audience as this language is mostly used in the everyday life. Using colloquial language gives an impression for freedom of speech as it is not formal. As this is the sort of language used for this magazine, it also gives out an idea of freedom in your own lifestyle.
